Nestled along the waterfront of Barcelona is the neighborhood of Barceloneta. This section of Barcelona was originally founded for fishing and industry, but now is a popular tourist destination. Here you will find beautiful beaches, authentic restaurants, and a lively atmosphere. Between the 27 of September and the 6 of October, you will also be able to experience one of Barceloneta´s biggest festivals, Fiesta Mayor la Barceloneta. This festival dates back to 1855 and celebrates their patron, Saint Miguel del Port. Barceloneta´s Fiesta Mayor features a wide range of concerts, kids activities, as well as many other tradicional activities. Some of these traditions include Sardana dancing, historical exhibitions, and the cannon of Barceloneta. This is a great way to experience the culture and history of Barcelona while still being close to the beach.
